About
I have been working in interactive and web content development for over thirteen years. An English major and web geek, I spent the better part of my twenties working for The National Geographic Society as they moved from CD-Rom through several iterations of the early internet.
Since moving to New York City seven years ago I’ve worked with both dot-coms and traditional publishing organizations. While earning my MFA in creative nonfiction from The New School, I began to focus more on an under-served community of writers, literary buffs, and booksellers.
Until July 2011, I was the prose editor in chief of LIT magazine. Now I’m at large, which is fun to say. LIT publishes contemporary prose and poetry, including work by authors including Blake Butler, Jonathan Franzen, Mary Gaitskill, Joe Meno, Rick Moody, Ed Park, Marie Ponsot, Terese Svoboda, and Craig Morgan Teicher.
I helped Richard Nash develop Cursor and am proud to laud the first authors of Red Lemonade: Kio Stark, Lynne Tillman, Vanessa Veselka.
Reading is the best thing ever. I read nonstop. In fact I’m reading a shampoo bottle right now. And making copy edits while questioning its redesign.
I’ve kept MintJelly since 2003, but stopped blogging much once I got to grad school and haven’t updated in a year. I’m still proud of it.
For a while, I couldn’t stop thinking up extremely personalized knuckle tattoos (okay, I still can’t).
My critical reviews have appeared in The Brooklyn Rail, my tech advice column appears on She Writes, and I blog about relationships and technology at Breakup Girl.
I like to squirrel away links for future reference.
I’ve met some of my favorite people on Twitter.
But I hate Facebook with a fierce and righteous fury.
Sometimes I take photos, but I really love Mlkshk.
Occasionally I find a worthy addition to my list of Fauxcabulary words.
